Trip to Germany

Saying good-bye Part of the deal with Bebeth was traveling to Cebu and proceeding to Germany together, in return I finally got the affidavit of waiver stating her agreement of divorce. Amazingly she had really succeeded to get a ticket for the same plane and this time she was even paying it by herself, sponsored by Marilyn, her sister living in Japan. Most of the family came together to disband us so we needed both cars to transport all people to the harbour. I sat inside Bebeth's red Mitsubishi Lancer and we fetched her brother Jochrys from the Badminton court on our way.

Ferry going to Cebu During our travel on board of the ferry nothing special happened. We both had a friendly but distant way we got along with eachother, just like simple friends. Due to a rather turbulent ocean it was a way uncomfortable to sleep, but none of us became seasick at least. In the early morning we arrived in Cebu and after some consideration we dropped into Bebeth's favorite inexpensive hotel for bridging the time until heading to the international airport together. This way we could have a shower and a real breakfast.

Later at the airport we had a nice encounter of a Surigaonon working at the immigration office. When we proceeded to his desktop for producing our passports he recognized us coming from Surigao City because I was wearing my Surigao t-shirt. Soon Bebeth and he started talking and quickly figured out having common acquaintances etc. The officer was very nice and even suggested his help getting a longer lasting visa for my next time coming to the Philippines as being married to a Filipina instead of a simple tourist visa.

After boarding the aircraft and taking off Bebeth slept most of the time beside me. We hardly talked even during the meals offered and also during our stopover in Hongkong nothing special happened. When we finally arrived in Frankfurt Bebeth received a sms coming from Lanie saying that Georg and she were on their way for meeting us but it would take another 45 minutes. Thus I invited Bebeth for a hot chocolate while waiting for her ride, as I also still had lots of time left waiting for my train going home.

Yes, Bebeth had no intention at all coming with me, but she preferred to be fetched by her girlfriend taking her to Siegen. Georg was driving an oldtimer car which looked rather impressive and I helped Bebeth putting her bags into the luggage trunk. It was a strange feeling when I saw them driving away and it turned out to be the very last time I saw Bebeth at all... I proceeded to the railway station, phoned my parents and catched my train going to their place, where I had lunch before driving home to Heilbronn, eventually.

Lanie & Elena Approximately one week later, I suddenly received an e-mail from Bebeth asking me for help with the extention of her visa. You can read parts of our conversation here. Of course, I had to deny her plea explaining to her that it would be illegal doing this pretending that we would still lead a true married life together. Fictitious marriage is a serious criminal offense and obviously our marriage had failed. Bebeth also tried to convince me by sms but I stayed firm with my decision, so she had to leave Germany before August 23, the expire date of her old visa. By reading her e-mail I felt utterly disappointed about Elena who was said to accompany Bebeth to the aliens office. Before Elena used to be one of my favorite and most trustworthy Filipinas I met, but maybe I was mistaken again...

Before Bebeth finally left Germany again, I even invited her and her friends for a Despedida party for saying good-bye, but nobody wanted to come, unfortunately. This clearly showed me her total disinterest and somehow I was glad about this, as I had intended the invitation as some kind of test. I knew I had tried my very best, but all was in vain, but at least I could have a peaceful mind about what I did.
