Waiting...

In fact it was a rather strange situation while I stayed together with the family of my wife. Everyone treated me kindly so the feeling was similar to my last visits, except Bebeth being away most of the time. So I just tried to make the best out of it by enjoying my vacation while waiting for good opportunities to talk to her but unfortunately they were rare. Days just went by and still I had no real result.

Bebeths room To be fair it must be mentioned that Bebeth was never doing me wrong nor treating me bad. She offered me her personal room as she did before already and I could even use her computer for reading my e-mails and collecting my photos taken by my digicam. This was very fortunate because my digicam was stolen memorable shortly before I needed to leave for home while I took a ride on a multicab. Just the morning before I had transferred my photos to Bebeth's PC, otherwise they would have been lost... Maybe the thief was able to nourish his family for a few months after selling my camera, so I wasn't too angry about this.

After having stayed in Surigao for one week, Tata and I left for going to Tubajon on Dinagat Island, where most of the family members live. Obviously I was still seen as some kind of a VIP visitor because I could reside at the mayors house, who is an uncle of Bebeth and a close friend of the family. Tata stayed at their own house about 200m away and we often had nice hikings along the ways throughout Tubajon and along the bay leading to a nice beach.

Family members living in Tubajon Thus I was able to talk to many members of the family and their first question usually was: "where is your wife?" followed by a laughter when I explained to them that I had no idea (that was true as she didn't come with us). Especially the older people didn't seem to have lots of understanding for Bebeth's behaviour and she was lucky not to be there at this time I guess, as one granduncle once told me, he would have spanked her if she was present... He really made me sad and worried, because after he had seen some of the photos I had brought showing Bebeth in Germany, he needed a break and couldn't continue looking at them. I think he was very downhearted about what happened. Thanks to everyone who made my vacation on Dinagat very memorable!

Campintak beach resort Tata and I could only stay over the weekend as she needed to return to her college classes again, so I was back at "my" room and had lots of time for exploring the city mostly on my own. Surigao is a friendly place and I didn't have any troubles, though I surely attracted lots of attention by often hiking along the National Highway, which is uncommon especially for foreigners who usually prefer to have a ride on a multicab or a tricycle. My intention was to take pictures so hiking was best. Beside this Bebeth's parents took me for a ride to Lipata, I visited the school of Jochrys' kids, we went to a spring resort etc etc. All this reminded me of really being on vacation, but surely I had to think about my aim all the time, too.

During my talks to Bebeth I learned about her intention to return to Germany for a 2nd time for extending her visa with my help. She didn't want to explain to me why, but I had heard about this before from some of her friends, that she wanted to work in Germany to earn some money she could use at home. Thus I definately told her that I wouldn't allow her to return without having signed the affidavit first. Surely I had no way of avoiding her to enter Germany again, but I bluffed her by saying I would cause trouble.

It really worked and she took my draft of the affidavit for considering about it. Obviously she was thinking hard and asked many friends, because the following night I got a phone call from Georg, the husband of Lanie, asking me "why and how" etc. I explained to him, that I insisted in having this paper done in the Philippines as I wanted to be sure to have it. Obviously Georg convinced Bebeth that I was serious, so she produced another draft of the affidavit which included some changes I couldn't accept though, so I corrected it and gave it back to her again. So we more or less ended with the version my lawyer had suggested... Bebeth really signed an affidavit of waiver and it was also certified by a notary public.
