Foreword

Hello and welcome to my humble homepage! My name is Jörg (also known as Jorge or Cork in the Philippines) and I'm a German citizen. On the following pages you can find out about my personal experiences in the Philippines during my 3 visits to Cebu and Surigao in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Everything truly happened like I tell it here, although I know some details may sound unbelievable and strange. Please rest assured that it's nothing but the truth.

Jorg First of all I am not doing this for some kind of revenge or for insulting anyone. If you happen to be any of those persons mentioned in my story and you're feeling disturbed about the way I'm telling about you, please send me an e-mail and I will reconsider this part of the story - walay problema - promised!

I don't say that all people in the Philippines are bad or whatever, as this would be a very silly statement. Personally I met quite a few really nice, reasonable and rational persons and some of them even became friends of mine. Right now Bebing, a Filipina having lived in Germany for many years married to a German, is even helping me writing down the story, because she's more talented in writing than me and she can give me hints and suggestions from a pinay point of view...

The story narrates my personal experiences as a means of catharsis to gradually achieve emotional "normality" and peace of mind. When I came to the Philippines I fell in love with the country and those always smiling people, having no clue that not all of them are really nice. Of course, you can find good and bad people all over the world, that's for sure. Maybe I just had bad luck, huh? I don't know...

Anyway, during the past years I had a very difficult time and and my story could be an eye opener for others not to be trapped in a love net. In 2003 at my first visit I was so very naive and gullible. Some things I should have known better, but I was in love with the country and with my (ex-) wife. Today, only my love for the land remains eternally, just like for all Surigaonons, as long as they consciously conserve her natural beauty, then I shall return one day, maybe. Please, if you're in a similar situation, consider, consider and reconsider if you're absolutely sure that your friend(s) is/are true. Try to "test" them to find out about their true intentions first, before you maybe invest lots of emotions, feelings and also money. I lost about 650,000 Php (not including my personal expenses)... but I'm still branded as kuripot (thrifty) - imagine this!

I'm happy to discuss everything with people interested, amazed, shocked, disturbed, insulted or whatever. You can always drop me an e-mail and I will definitely reply.

Please don't discuss this topic inside the guestbook of the Surigao City homepage, as this is actually not intended for doing so. I just opened a new topic inside the forum. You're cordially invited to leave your message there, please. Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Jörg

P.S.: Please be patient as this site is under heavy construction right now. Because I want to stay as close to the truth as possible, I need to read old e-mails, chat logs, documents etc. thoroughly while writing the story. Fortunately I kept almost everything over the years. So it's a big effort to create those pages but hinay-hinay basta kanunay they will become finished...
